In The Hague are many international politicians and experts together to discuss the war on terror. In the run-up to the consultation warned Mr Koenders (Foreign Affairs), chairman of the meeting, that terrorism is increasingly international: "It's like a virus that constantly adapts."
In the consultation are representatives of the anti-terror Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) and the anti-IS coalition. The Netherlands and Turkey co-chaired the GCTF. There are ministers and state secretaries by terror stricken countries such as France, Belgium, Nigeria and Tunisia, and representatives from Europol, Interpol, the UN and the EU.
One of the topics that will be addressed, the exchange of information. "If timely and accurate information comes together, we can better try to prevent terrorism," said Koenders. "There is still a major task for the international community."
Yesterday, Koenders announced that the number of names has doubled the national terrorism list in one year, up to 39 people and three organizations.
