Victims of abuse have so far received nearly 21 million in damages in the Roman Catholic Church in the Netherlands.
This involves 699 cases. The possibility for submission of complaints closed May 1 last year.
When true statement of their complaint may request victims to a compensation committee. Until 1 January 820 victims had done that and it is expected that approximately 150 victims will do. Late this year or early 2017 are expected to each receive a judgment, it appears from the report of the supervisory foundation.
Since 2010, reported 3056 victims themselves to the complaints committee of the foundation. Half of them eventually lodged a formal complaint. In 937 cases a full or partial true statement was issued (71 per cent of the total).
