Groningen American with roots in race to become CIA director

The Groningen-born Pete Hoekstra is named as the new director of the CIA. The 63-year-old Hoekstra would be honored to work for the new government of Donald Trump, he told Newsmax TV.

"It's a decision that Trump will have to take. He must appoint someone he can trust completely," he said.

Hoekstra Trump in the past three months in his own words "know well". "I've worked hard on his campaign and knows what he stands for. I know which way he wants with the United States, both at home and abroad."

Hoekstra moved at the age of 3 to the United States. He worked in the furniture industry and was active for many years as a parliamentarian in Michigan. Hoekstra speaks a little Dutch.
