During the hostage-taking in a hotel Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso is Friday a Dutchman died. It is a 67-year-old man, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hague Saturday night. The man worked in the country as a volunteer.
At the terrorist attack on a hotel in Burkina Faso are at least 27 people lost their lives. There would be eight ten nationalities among the dead. 150 hostages are freed from the hotel.
Minister Bert Koenders (Foreign Affairs) said, shocked and saddened. ,, I live intensely with the relatives of the victim. It is painful and bitter that someone who wanted to contribute to the development of the country becomes a victim of such an act '', said the Minister.
,, The violence in Burkina Faso shows that terror can strike anywhere and many faces. That is why we must remain United in our struggle against this type of atrocities. ''
Safety instructions the honorary consul-an Ambassador who maintains contact with the unpaid work-in Ouagadougou some 50 Dutch registered there. They are advised to avoid the area around the hotel and safety instructions of the local authorities.
An employee of the Dutch Embassy in Bamako in the adjacent country Mali, travels Sunday to Burkina Faso to the honorary consul.
